About the Role
We’re seeking a Research Fellow in Theoretical Quantum Physics to join the Physics discipline within RMIT’s School of Science. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in quantum science and mathematics, specifically within the QuRMIT Theory Lab and the ARC Future Fellowship project _Unifying discrete and continuous methods in quantum information theory_.

About the RMIT Applied Quantum Technologies Centre (RAQT)
This position is embedded within RMIT’s growing quantum ecosystem, anchored by the
RMIT Applied Quantum Technologies Centre (RAQT)
- RAQT is a cross-disciplinary research hub uniting experts from the School of Science and the School of Engineering. It focuses on applied, industry-relevant quantum research in areas such as:
- Quantum sensing, navigation, and timing- Quantum materials and manufacturing- Quantum computing and communication- Quantum fundamentals
RAQT serves as a “front door” for industry and collaborators in quantum technology to engage with RMIT researchers, and plays a leading role in national and international initiatives in quantum science and technology.
About You- Mathematical quantum physics, including quantum information theory, C*-algebras, von Neumann algebras, and the rigorous mathematics of quantum field theory- Strong or emerging research track record, demonstrated through high-quality publications, collaborations, and success with research funding- Contributing to a collaborative and supportive research environment, including research supervision, grant development, and outreach activities- Strong communication skills and a collegial, team-oriented approach- Commitment to scientific accuracy, mathematical rigour, and high-quality academic practice
Essential: A PhD (or equivalent) in quantum science, physics, or a closely related field.
