**The Role**
You will be part of a team leading the delivery of the Department’s Graduate and Entry Level Programs. You will provide strategic and operational advice on matters that span the HR spectrum including program delivery, and have a strong stakeholder focus. The Assistant Director provides guidance and support to work areas and program participants, and builds partnerships outside the department.

The Assistant Director for Graduate and Entry Level Programs will:

- Lead a team operating in a fast-paced work environment and deliver on competing priorities;
- Lead and monitor the progress and effectiveness of program strategies and initiatives;
- Develop and manage relationships with stakeholders across and outside the portfolio;
- Review and evaluate the department’s graduate and entry level programs for continuous improvement;
- Collaborate across the organisation to ensure that the department’s graduate and entry level programs are contemporary;
- Manage and resolve issues affecting program participants and business areas in partnership with enabling areas; and
- Prepare complex and/or sensitive correspondence, briefs and documentation.

These programs ensure that Defence has ongoing access to skills in relevant vocational and tertiary disciplines.
- Experience in delivering customer-centric projects;
- Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills;
- Effective problem solving and critical thinking skills and ability to exercise sound judgment in consideration of immediate and long term issues;
- Ability to operate under broad direction and exercise a considerable degree of independence;
- Adaptability, flexibility and resilience to work in a high tempo and agile environment; and
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills to engage with stakeholders in a clear, concise and articulate manner.

This role is not currently offered in a remote capacity, and is located at premises at Brindabella Business Park, Canberra, ACT.
