**The Role**
As an EL 1 Assistant Director, you will:
- Lead a team in the management of Code of Conduct, underperformance, probation and other APS disciplinary matters referred for review.
- Exercise sound decision making and judgement when producing high level evidence based decisions for our cases.
- Have highly developed written communication skills to support evidenced based decision making.
- Provide high quality advice and guidance to senior management, supervisors and employees across the Department.
- Be accountable for accurate completion of your work and your team’s work within timeframes and ensuring quality requirements.
- Be responsible for actively managing key stakeholder relationships within and outside Defence.
**About our Team**
Directorate of Conduct and Performance (DCP) provides advice and guidance on conduct and performance management issues. It manages inquiries into suspected breaches of the APS Code of Conduct; and administers and facilitates the management of poor performance of APS employees in accordance with current legislation, policies, business rules and Agency best practice.
- Be an excellent people manager, who will drive positive behaviour and performance in your team.
- Work in a fast-pace environment and will need to have strong attention to detail, and an ability to manage several cases of varied complexity at once.
- Be able to familiarise yourself and interpret Defence’s people policies and strategies, particularly in the APS Code of Conduct and Performance area.
- Be an influential communicator, resilient, have sound judgement and a proven track record in collaborating to achieve quality outcomes and a demonstrated understanding of or experience in decision making practices.
