**THE ROLE**
This is an exciting opportunity for a leading technical expert in the Polyurethanes sector, to join our client's executive team, to plan, design, expand and execute their Urethanes’ technology strategy; setting the standards and policies, to drive commercial objectives and growth.
The C.A.S.E. professional will lead the day-to-day direction of the local technical and international teams, providing leadership, expertise and innovation, stakeholder, and customer influence, creating distribution channels and utilising product to market knowledge and capability; driving the C.A.S.E. objectives, efficiency, and revenue growth, for our organisation.
This opportunity is perfect for someone who is goal orientated, entrepreneurial, and thrives in a manufacturing environment; utilising their extensive R&D product and process knowledge to support and make recommendations to our customers; driving superior results.
Regular interstate and overseas travel is required.
Your responsibilities will include (not limited to):
- Member of the Executive Team - driving the company's technology strategy and policies
- Business Unit leader for the Technical and International teams; ensuring success against agreed KPI’s and budgets
- Development of new technological growth platforms, ensuring technical support of incremental growth opportunities, as well as providing manufacturing support
- Consultation with in-house technical experts to ensure best practice, efficient processes and fit for purpose products
- Initiating and completing development and evaluation of new specialty polyurethanes products in the laboratory, ensuring compliance standards are met
- Imparting expert knowledge and experience to internal teams and external customers
- Ensuring successful scale up of new products and instigating improved manufacturing processes
- Tracking and implementing cost control measures with C.A.S.E. revenue growth and sales profit margin front of mind
- Industry engagement - producing and presenting technology papers to Industry Groups, customers internal stakeholders and at during negotiations
- Technical advisor for major projects and initiatives; ensuring appropriate funding and driving continuous improvement
**ABOUT YOU**
You are a technical leader with extensive research and development and formulation capability and experience, who is passionate about delivering successful outcomes to customers. You bring to the table:
- Master’s Degree (MBA)
- NACE certification
- Degree qualification in Materials Science/Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Chemistry
- A minimum of 20 years’ experience in PU chemistry (including global exposure), including R&D managerial roles
- Proven track record in the formulation, set-up, troubleshooting, operation, and evaluation of polyurethanes (C.A.S.E.)
- Active leadership in major R&D projects from inception through to implementation involving cross-functional collaboration, production, compliance, and customers
- Inspirational leadership
- A strong commitment to delivering excellence
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, communication and organisational skills
- Demonstrated experience building strong relationships with stakeholders; imparting knowledge and experience and juggling/managing expectations
- Market diverse technical experience in polyurethane coatings, adhesives, sealants, and elastomers
- Presentation skills (to Industry groups and customers)
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Previous proposal development and/or business planning/reporting experience and budget/forecasting management
