**What you will be doing**: - Provide professional, authoritative and timely strategic advice to senior management on policy issues of a complex nature relating to young Queenslanders. Collaborate with other jurisdictions, agencies and across the department to deliver on the Government's national and state policy commitments and reform agendas. Lead policy research, evaluation, analysis and coordination and providing advice on policy issues relevant to young Queenslanders to identify achievable solutions. Prepare policy solutions in agreed format considering government policy agenda, departmental priorities, and budgetary constraints. Support negotiation and consultation with a range of key stakeholders, including the Australian Government, other government agencies, and senior departmentalstaff relating to a range of policy issues for young Queenslanders. Provide guidance on national research and data collections and publications relating to a range of policy issues for young Queenslanders. Manage the formulation and preparation of proposals, recommendations, submissions and briefing papers of a complex nature. Demonstrate visible policy leadership, direction and focus. Support and help maintain a workplace safety culture by ensuring that all policies and practices concerning Workplace Health and Safety are applied and a part of day-to-day operations.
**The skills you will need include being able to**: - Have proven research and analytical ability and demonstrated capability in gathering information and strategic thinking to advise on policy direction. Demonstrated high-level experience in managing and coordinating projects to completion, establish priorities, meet deadlines, including stakeholder engagementand negotiations as well as obtaining executive and government approval. Ability to work collaboratively with team members and complete challenging tasks by managing conflicting priorities and managing tight deadlines. Successfully use research, analysis and critical judgement to provide high quality advice and inform decision-making on social policy issues. Demonstrate personal responsibility in meeting objectives, including the ability to proactively recognise and resolve issues impacting on the achievement of desired outcomes.
