The aviation sector is dependent on data, systems and networks and we take our customers’ trust in the security of their data seriously. Across the Qantas Group, we collect, share, use, store and process personal information in accordance with an ever-changing and increasingly complex landscape of both international and domestic laws and regulations. We acknowledge our responsibility to protect and maintain the privacy rights of individuals and to maintain the security and the value of their data.
The Data Privacy, Ethics and Governance (DPEG) team is accountable for developing and implementing the Group data privacy, ethics and governance approach, including the policies, procedures and standards required to ensure a consistent, coordinated and compliant approach to data across the Group.

You will be responsible for creating and updating data-related standards, procedures and processes, and ensuring they are cascaded across the Group. You will also contribute to the Group data risk management processes, especially those related to personal information. Alongside other members of the DPEG team, you will work to uplift the Group-wide data culture and capabilities in relation to privacy and data protection compliance obligations.

- Privacy qualifications from the international Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) or equivalent are desirable (e.g. CIPM, CIPP/E)
- Demonstrated knowledge of privacy and data protection laws and regulations (Australia & International) and industry standards and frameworks (e.g. Privacy by Design, ISO27701)
- Strong risk management skills, with the ability to identify, communicate risks and solutions
- Strong stakeholder management skills
- Demonstrated experience in developing data privacy and ethics training and education sessions
- Effective time management skills with an ability to prioritise department tasks while working on multiple projects
