Queensland's passenger rail network is undergoing significant transformation in response to unprecedented growth and emerging demands. In the next decade, various large rail infrastructure investment projects and system enhancements will be delivered which will change the way people move. To ensure a co-ordinated approach in the delivery of this large rail infrastructure pipeline, TMR has established a Rail Infrastructure Delivery Office. The current significant rail projects Rail Infrastructure Delivery is responsible for includes the Beerburrum to Nambour Rail Upgrade Project ($550.8 million). The Beerburrum to Nambour Stage 1 Rail Upgrade Project (B2N) will contribute to a safe, efficient, and effective rail network that meets the current and future needs of the Region by improving capacity, reliability, and safety. It is being delivered in stages and is a significant component of the Region's QTRIP contribution.
As the Principal Environmental Officer your accountabilities include: - Ensure effective environmental, sustainability and cultural heritage management and legislative compliance in the design, construction and maintenance phases of the project. Monitor and respond to new and emerging environmental issues, providing strategic advice and identifying opportunities to align solutions with other areas of TMR. Maintain effective relationships within TMR and with other agencies, organisations and stakeholders to ensure TMR effectively manages environmental and cultural heritage matters. Represent the department on environmental matters at various internal and external forums, workshops and events. Develop responses to Ministerial and public inquiries in relation to environmental matters. Lead the development and management of external environmental assessments and studies, permits and approvals to meet the project needs and legislative timeframes and requirements. Manage the environmental reporting requirements and compliance of contractors. Ensure compliance with legislative obligations for environmental management and cultural heritage. Assist Infrastructure Sustainability Council (ISC) ratings assessments, compliance checks and reporting. Contribute to a high performing team through active participation and engagement to share information and provide support, guidance and leadership. Other Day to Day tasks consistent with the role as assigned by your manager.
