**The Principal Training Officer key responsibilities are:

- Develop and deliver high quality, contemporary, research-based development and training programs across the state to staff working in child protection, in accordance with departmental policies, procedures, statutory responsibilities and the framework for practice.
- Maintain currency of knowledge and practice skills in relation to contemporary child protection practice, theory and research trends, along with an understanding of the Queensland context for practice.
- Actively participate as a member of the leadership team to support the strategic direction of the Child Safety Training team, and of the broader department. This includes a demonstrated commitment to the furtherance of relevant operational and business unit plans, with a focus on key deliverables for the Child Safety Training team.
- Provide leadership and supervision to Child Safety Training, to support a culture of curiosity, learning and continuous improvement.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, to build capacity, skills and knowledge in child protection service delivery.
- Ensure accurate training records are maintained and reported for all learning and development activity.
- Understand the strategic objective of the organisation and monitor corporate priorities and the business context of the organisation to inform self and others of work priorities in delivering and supporting child safety services in Queensland.
- To present messages in a clear concise and articulate manner, particularly in formal learning settings. You focus on key points and use appropriate unambiguous language. You select appropriate mediums for conveying information and structure written and oral communication effectively.
