The Medical Management Specialist is critical in managing and coordinating medical care for injured workers within a self-insured environment. This position requires a strong understanding of workers’ compensation processes, medical terminology, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including healthcare providers, case managers, and injured workers.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- ** Medical Case Management**:
Oversee injured workers’ medical treatment and rehabilitation, ensuring that care is appropriate and aligns with regulatory requirements.
- ** Communication and Coordination**:
Serve as the liaison between injured workers, healthcare providers, and case managers. Facilitate communication to ensure timely and effective treatment.
- ** Utilisation Review**:
Conduct reviews of medical treatment plans and services to ensure they are medically necessary and compliant with established guidelines.
- ** Data Analysis and Reporting**:
Analyse medical data and claims information to identify trends, assess program effectiveness, and provide recommendations for improvements.
- ** Policy Development**:
Assist in developing and implementing workers’ compensation policies and procedures that enhance medical management and compliance.
- ** Education and Training**:
Provide training and support to case managers on workers’ compensation injury management practices, processes, rights, and responsibilities.
- ** Regulatory Compliance**:
Ensure all medical management practices comply with state and federal workers’ compensation laws and regulations.

**Qualifications**:

- ** Education**:
bachelor’s degree in nursing, health administration, allied health, or a related field. A nursing degree or equivalent medical background is highly desirable.
- ** Experience**:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in workers’ compensation, medical management, or a related healthcare field.
- ** Skills**:

- Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in medical terminology.
- Analytical skills for data interpretation and reporting.
