The Opportunity

We have this excellent opportunity available for a Medical Information Specialist to join our dedicated team. Located in Melbourne CBD (Australia) and part of the broader Medical Affairs team, this is a full-time role for a 2-year fixed term. You will work general office hours Mon-Fri and flexible hybrid work is available.

In this role, you will be responsible for facilitating the quality use of vaccines and pharmaceutical products through responding to medical and scientific enquiries, from both internal and external customers, and assisting in the initial collection and reporting of adverse events.

The Role

Reporting to the Medical Information Lead, your responsibilities will include:

- Provide written and verbal medical information on products, according to standard, approved medical responses.
- Follow pharmacovigilance requirements when reporting and performing follow up of adverse events.
- Maintain the information resources required for the Medical Information function (e.g. product files, contact lists, on-line database facilities) so that they remain relevant, up to date and accessible.
- Conduct regular checks on enquiries and adverse event reports, reconciling with business partners.
- Interact with other medical, scientific and commercial personnel and maintain knowledge of relevant therapeutic areas.
- Ensure all relevant documents are accurate and current to meet audit requirements.
- Provide Medical Information support during issues management situations e.g. drug recalls.
- Liaise with Scientific Advisers and Medical Managers to ensure that standard, approved medical responses are maintained and up to date, and to provide insightful reports on enquiries.
- Undertake occasional literature searches and the collation of relevant literature for a response.
- Work within various guidelines including internal SOPs, Medicines Australia Code of Conduct and Pharmacovigilance requirements as necessary.
- Provide training on the medical information processes to new sales representatives, Medical Information consultants and other internal stakeholders as necessary.
- Other items as required by the team from time to time.

Skills and Experience
- Degree in Nursing, Pharmacy, Pharmacology, Biological or Medical Sciences or similar is essential.
- Related experience in the pharmaceutical industry, including 1-2 years in Medical Information would be an advantage but not essential
- Related experience in customer service or call centre would be an advantage.
- Demonstrated attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong ability to work collaboratively internally and externally, and as part of a team.
- Excellent ability to manage time and multiple tasks, prioritise and adapt to change.
