RATP Dev is growing in Australia. Following our successful bid and current involvement in the Western Sydney Airport metro project - now under construction - we’re preparing to expand our presence in Melbourne and are seeking an Operations Lead to join our Team

**About the Role**:
Reporting to the Technical Head, this role will lead the operational workflow during the bid phase of an upcoming project, coordinating inputs across OCC, train scheduling/pathways, and station operations. You’ll work closely with technical (maintenance, HSQE, projects), HR (social & work environment context) and commercial-financial leads to ensure our offer is both operationally sound and commercially competitive.

In the event of a successful bid, this role has the potential to transition into a senior operational leadership position within the future organisation.

Your day-to-day responsibilities **during the bid phase** may include:

- Developing a clear and compelling operations strategy that responds to the State’s expectations and reflects local network conditions, customer needs, and contract performance frameworks
- Demonstrating how RATP Dev would manage operations to achieve outcomes such as service frequency, on-time performance, cleanliness, information provision, and passenger satisfaction
- Ensuring robust, managerial & safety-led operational processes are built into the delivery model, balancing excellence in service with cost efficiency
- Managing the operational cost development process, ensuring alignment with the broader bid financial model
- Clearly articulating the organisation and leadership approach that underpins our ability to deliver customer service excellence and meet key performance indicators

In **the event of a successful bid**, your role could evolve to:

- Lead the full Operations function, overseeing the day-to-day running
- Set and manage the operational strategy, annual planning and performance framework for the Operations team
- Act as the key point of contact for operational matters with the client, stakeholders, and delivery partners
- Lead crisis and incident management responses with a clear, calm and accountable approach
- Provide senior leadership to direct reports, ensuring compliance, operational performance and continuous improvement

**About You**:
You’re a senior operations professional with deep experience in commuters trains, metro or heavy rail environments, known for your leadership, technical insight, and ability to drive operational excellence across complex systems. You’ll bring:

- At least 15 years’ experience in railway or commuters trains, metro operations, including managing large, multidisciplinary operational teams
- Solid working knowledge of end-to-end operations including train scheduling and utilisation, crew rostering, control centre, station, train and depot operations
- A strong understanding of rail systems and infrastructure including signalling, power distribution, platform screen doors, automatic fare collection, track layouts, and maintenance systems
- Proven leadership capability, with a confident, calm and effective decision-making style, particularly in fast-paced or high-pressure environments
- The ability to work autonomously, think strategically, and maintain engagement across a broad team of internal and external stakeholders
- Previous experience contributing to bids or tendering processes particularly in brownfield or operating environments
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset, with a focus on both team performance and organisational outcomes
- A high level of self-awareness, professionalism, and resilience when managing competing priorities or complex operational challenges
