**About the Role**:

- Developing key departmental strategies to support the delivery of Equity and Excellence.
- Working closely with business areas to develop high-quality operational policies and procedures, including drafting policy and procedure content, and supporting the management of the Policy and Procedure Register.
- Working with business areas and regions to mature approaches to human rights, including complaints management.
- Developing resources, reporting products and working with business areas to effectively embed the department's approach to risk management.
- Supporting business areas to manage their projects and programs, and supporting the management of the department's project management tool.
- Coordinating departmental and whole of government corporate reporting and planning activities, such as the Annual Report and strategic and operational planning.
- Support strategic governance committee activities, including providing secretariat support and working with committees to enhance governance committee practices.

We are looking for Principal Policy Officers who have the following attributes:

- Critical and strategic thinkers, who can research and analyse issues, translate complex information into clear and user friendly products, and make informed recommendations to management;
- Excellent people skills and a commitment to customer service;
- Exceptional writers and communicators who are great at stakeholder engagement and negotiation;
- Excellent attention to detail, organisation and coordination skills; and
- Self-starters who can work independently, but also collaboratively as part of a team.
