We’re seeking a dynamic HSE Manager to lead the way in shaping safety, innovation, and operational excellence across our fleet and equipment operations. With a demonstrated background in fleet, mechanical, or workshop HSE—ideally with a trade background—this is an opportunity to lead from the front in a critical, high-impact role.

Based in Brisbane or Melbourne, you’ll support workshops across Australia, particularly the eastern seaboard, providing technical and operational HSE support. You’ll influence strategy while staying close to the action—supporting incident investigations, procurement risk assessments, and fleet standards design. You’ll work closely with Fleet and Equipment and sit on the Fleet Standards Committee. You’ll also get involved in emerging technologies such as pedestrian avoidance systems, telematics, and electric vehicles.

Key Responsibilities- Strategic & Operational Leadership: Develop and implement HSE strategies for fleet, equipment, and procurement; actively contribute to senior leadership meetings.- Workshop Engagement: Provide on-the-ground support for maintenance teams, especially in locations like Gladstone, Tomago, and Spotswood; assist with risk and compliance issues.- Incident Response & ICAM: Lead and support fleet-related incident investigations, with strong ICAM capability and fleet HSE expertise.- Innovation & Trials: Drive and trial new technologies, from EVs to safety systems, and contribute to standards and procurement design.- Quarterly Inspections & Travel: Conduct HSE inspections across the eastern seaboard at least quarterly, with monthly travel for site support.- Data & Reporting: Own and manage data used by the Road Transport Safety team; develop KPIs and reporting systems that drive safety performance.

Key Qualifications & Skills- HSE tertiary qualifications (or related discipline)- Minimum of 10 years of experience.- Heavy Industry Experience: Strong HSE background in fleet or workshop environments. Trade qualifications highly regarded.- Technical Expertise: High-level ICAM investigation skills, and experience in plant and equipment risk assessments.- Strategic & Tactical Thinker: Able to design long-term plans while delivering daily operational support.- Strong Communicator & Mediator: Able to influence across diverse business units and navigate sharp or difficult discussions with professionalism.- Resilient & Agile: Comfortable with shifting priorities, staff turnover environments, and driving safety improvements through change.- Fleet & HSE Systems Knowledge: Familiar with telematics, fleet compliance standards, and safety tech innovations.

Why Join Us?

This role gives you the freedom to innovate within a strong national framework and drive meaningful change across the country. You’ll be part of a team focused on embedding practical, effective HSE solutions in a complex operational environment. There’s real opportunity to influence global fleet standards in the future and be involved in leading-edge safety initiatives.

If you’re looking for a leadership role where your technical HSE expertise, operational insight, and resilience will be valued and rewarded—this is your opportunity.
