Melbourne City Centre, Australia Court Services Victoria Full time

About us
The Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) resolves legal disputes and cases in Victoria. We're the busiest tribunal in Australia. We finalise more than 80,000 cases a year - mostly disputes - at over 59 venues across Victoria. We've operated since 1998.
About the role
This is your opportunity to join an emerging design team to work on a Service Transformation that's helping everyday Victorians access justice through VCAT.
The purpose of the Content Designer will be to develop a range of communications materials that make it easier for members of the public to use VCAT's services, and to help internal users better engage with systems and processes. You will use deep community insights (quantitative and qualitative) to define user content across different areas of the Tribunal, ensuring that communications materials are accessible, clear and promote understanding for both internal and external users. Adopting agile and iterative design practices, you will translate complex legal requirements in understandable guides for users, testing language and solutions with users throughout design projects.

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Collaborate with UX and Service Designers in user research activities
- Collaborate across the business to develop content across a variety of formats to help people engage with VCAT's services
- Ensure that content is accessible and comprehensible to a diverse range of users, including those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people living with disability, and those with varying degrees of literacy
- Prototype and validate content solutions with users and stakeholders
- Share content solutions with the business through presentations and showcases
- Encourage and practice knowledge sharing across cross-functional teams

About you
You will have experience designing content that helps people navigate highly technical, proscribed environments, and a passion for bringing the voice of the user into every stage of the design process. You can demonstrate experience developing accessible content, including Easy English and content for people with disabilities. You are a strategic thinker with strong problem solving skills, and can communicate with a variety of stakeholders. You will have an established content design practice, supported by a portfolio of work. You are trained in content design, communications design, or other associated fields (either through formal training or workplace learning) and have 2+ years' experience over more than one project.
