The Department of Home Affairs is responsible for centrally coordinated strategy and policy leadership in relation to domestic national security arrangements, law enforcement, emergency management, counter-terrorism, social cohesion, the protection of our sovereignty, the integrity of our border and the resilience of our national infrastructure.
The Australian Border Force, an operationally independent body within the Department of Home Affairs, is Australia's frontline border law enforcement agency and Australia's customs service. The Australian Border Force's mission is to protect Australia's border and facilitate the legitimate movement of people and goods across it.
**Overview of the Branch and Section**:
The Intelligence, Identity and Biometrics Systems (IIBS) Branch works collaboratively with business areas to support the Intelligence, Identity and Biometrics capabilities. IIBS Branch is responsible for the delivery of critical ICT systems capability to business areas undergoing significant growth and change.
IIBS Branch is responsible for:
- Managing the technical delivery of the Intelligence, Identity and Biometrics Program of work
- Providing enterprise level data and business reporting services on behalf of the Department.
- Providing ongoing maintenance and support for Intelligence, Identity and Biometrics Systems.
**About the role**:
Governance and support officer role undertake a broad range of day-to-day administrative activities encompassing workforce management, procurement, contract management, recruitment, finance and information management.
**Specific duties/responsibilities**:
- Coordinate, plan and prioritise work whilst adapting a flexible approach to changing business priorities, escalating issues accordingly
- Coordinate and control office stationery and equipment requirements, including distribution of stores or supplies
- Manage incoming documents to ensure correspondence is triaged and actioned efficiently and effectively, acting as an escalation point
- Undertake filing and records management functions and ensure records are accurate, complete and managed in accordance with departmental policy
- Conduct payment of invoices, receipt of goods, reconcile financial activities and provide financial reports, within delegation.
**Role requirements/qualifications**:
- Mandatory_
- Highly-developed verbal and written communication skills, including being able to tailor to any audience
- Computer literacy including a solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel and database management
- Analytical skills to allow for investigation and resolution of issues and problems.
- Desirable_
- Certification in any of the following disciplines: Business Administration, Financial Management or Governance
- Working knowledge of EasySAP or ability to adapt to new IT systems.
