**About the role**

The Research Analyst within the Data, Operations, and Reporting team plays a vital role in delivering data-driven insights to support strategic planning at Destination NSW. This position involves conducting comprehensive research, analysis, and reporting to inform key decision-making and stakeholder engagement. A typical research project for this role to perform includes contextualizing the research question into actionable steps; collecting qualitative and quantitative data; organizing & refining the data to various forms; interpreting the data into text and/or visual insights by laymen’s term; and providing technical support to stakeholders on how to use the data in real case scenarios. By producing high-quality publications, managing stakeholder relationships, and contributing to visitor insight initiatives, the role supports the growth of the visitor economy. Additionally, the Research Analyst ensures accurate record-keeping, drives continuous improvement in processes, and proactively stays informed on trends impacting the tourism sector.

Destination NSW is the champion and voice for the visitor economy within the NSW Government. Spearheading a whole-of-government approach to visitor economy growth, Destination NSW influences and shapes the visitor economy through strategic research, policy and thought leadership, stakeholder engagement and consultation, commercial partnerships and investment in visitor experiences, business support, marketing and events. Destination NSW is also the major investor in Business Events Sydney (BESydney) for the purpose of securing more international and domestic conventions, incentive travel reward programs, corporate events and exhibitions.

**About You**

You are a skilled market research data analyst with a strong foundation in sourcing, extracting, and analysing market trend and dynamics data, ideally in the tourism or other visitor economy related industries, e.g., aviation, accommodation, consumer goods, economics, commercial KYC. You bring demonstrated expertise in quantitative research and are proficient in analysis tools such as SPSS, Q, Advanced Excel (Power Query) and Power BI. You have strong proficiency in Power query for data transformation, cleaning and manipulation to create and maintain queries, automate data workflows and integrate multiple data sources; and/or advanced experience of Power BI in building interactive dashboards & reports, connecting to various data sources and optimizing visualization, and developing calculated fields and measures with DAX. Your ability to transform complex data into clear, user-friendly reports tailored to diverse audiences sets you apart. With excellent communication skills, you excel at building and maintaining stakeholder relationships and presenting insights that support strategic decision-making. Ideally, you hold tertiary qualifications in statistics, economics, marketing, accounting or finance, or have equivalent experience, and are passionate about delivering timely, accurate, and high-quality reporting.
