Melbourne City Centre, Australia Transurban Full time

Working at Transurban is different; it’s a place where you can see the benefits of your work play out in real life, every day. We create city-sized solutions—building and operating safer, smarter, and more sustainable roads—to solve pressing transport challenges that are slowing cities down.

About the role

We're seeking a Licensing Specialist to drive software compliance and optimization across our growing technology portfolio.

You'll join an innovative team who partners with stakeholders across the business to ensure we're making the most of our software investments while maintaining robust compliance.

As our Licensing Specialist, you'll contribute to lasting and positive changes that shape the future of our cities and communities by helping manage and optimize Transurban's expanding software ecosystem. It's meaningful, challenging and exciting work that combines strategic vendor management with hands-on software asset management to support our continued growth and innovation.

Day-to-day, you will:

- Analyse and document software licensing agreements, including reviewing contracts, terms, and conditions to maintain clear records of our entitlement positions across all vendors.
- Monitor and calculate software consumption using SAM tools, tracking metrics such as named users, processor counts, and core counts to ensure accurate usage measurement.
- Generate and maintain Effective Licensing Positions (ELPs) for key vendors by comparing entitlements against actual usage, configuring automated calculations in SAM tools where possible.
- Conduct regular software usage audits through user surveys, direct stakeholder engagement, and data analysis to identify optimization opportunities and compliance risks.
- Manage and maintain the SAM tool environment, ensuring proper configuration, data quality, and regular updates to support accurate licensing tracking.
- Provide proactive licensing advisory services to business stakeholders, helping them understand compliance requirements and optimization opportunities.
- Investigate and resolve data anomalies, licensing discrepancies, and compliance issues through detailed analysis and stakeholder collaboration.
- Maintain comprehensive tracking systems and documentation for vendor-specific actions, optimization initiatives, and compliance remediation efforts.

This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:

- Ability to self-motivate and work both autonomously and as part of a team
- Prior experience in Software Asset Management, SAM Tools and major software vendor experience.
- Experience in reading contracts an asset
- Able to handle the challenges of a varied role in a dynamic organisation
- Excellent interpersonal skills (written & oral) with the ability to deal effectively with personnel at all levels
- Ability to communicate to senior business and Technology stakeholders
- Professional approach to behaviour, presentation and appearance
- An understanding of software licensing models and options particular for a major software vendor such as Microsoft, IBM, SAP or Oracle. For example, experience in calculating a licensing position (Effective Licensing position) for any major software vendor is a distinct advantage.

With a career at Transurban, you’ll enjoy a range of benefits, including:

- A range of flexible working and leave options, including the option to purchase an additional six weeks of leave each year
- 16 weeks paid parental leave (regardless of gender or carer status), with no waiting period, with Superannuation paid during unpaid leave as well
- Learning and development opportunities to support your career interests
- Health and wellbeing support—access to Headspace and our EAP program, wellness facilities, and more
- Share offers and insurance benefits
- Social activities, community give-back programs and paid volunteer days

We offer a range of flexible working and leave options, so you can balance your work and life commitments and interests. Have a conversation with us about how this could work for you.

We embrace diversity with a foundation of safety, wellbeing and inclusion; where everyone belongs. We treat everyone with fairness, consideration and respect, regardless of gender, gender identity, marital or family status, sexual orientation, age, ethnicity, religious beliefs, cultural or socio-economic background, perspective, and experience - whether they work for us or not. We want to ensure everyone feels comfortable and safe to express ideas, questions and concerns.
