**The role**:
Our Livable Water Solutions (LWS) group is responsible for the asset planning for the organization and plays a crucial role in ensuring environmental compliance and risk management throughout our capital projects.

As the Team Leader - Environmental Approvals, you will collaborate closely with the Environment & Approvals Manager to oversee environmental processes within SEW's capital program lifecycle. Your role will involve managing a team of technical environmental professionals, building strong stakeholder relationships, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and timely obtaining of statutory approvals.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Lead and manage a team of environmental professionals, providing support, coaching, and performance assessments.
- Develop and maintain productive relationships with internal leadership and management to embed environmental approvals and risk management processes.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with regulators and authorities.
- Implement and monitor environmental risk management processes, including identifying risks, implementing controls, and capturing continuous improvement opportunities.
- Support project teams in high risk/complex projects, ensuring timely approvals and risk mitigation.
- Environmental incident management and response.
- Provide training and upskilling to staff and contractors on legislative obligations and environmental processes.
- Implement tools and systems to support effective environmental performance and governance.

**Who are you?**:
Strong people leadership stills along with a sound understanding of environmental legislation and approvals requirements will set you up for success in this role.

You will also be able to demonstrate:

- Bachelor’s degree or higher in environmental science, engineering, statutory planning, or relevant field.
- Minimum ten years' experience in a similar role, preferably within the water industry.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Familiarity with project management principles and asset project lifecycles.
- Demonstrated understanding of and experience implementing risk management frameworks and approaches
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Ability to develop competent and effective teams.
- Commitment to promoting environmental management approaches.
