**OUR TEAM**
Our Explosive Ordnance Systems (EOS) team enables the Australian Defence Force through the storage, handling, distribution, maintenance and disposal of ordnance all across Australia. Positioning for growth, we now have an exciting opportunity to join our business leading HSE nationally.
**YOUR ROLE**
The primary responsibilities of this role are to lead HSE within EOS by providing thought leadership and insightful perspectives on HSE matters. The focus is on providing valuable advice, guidance, and direction to the leadership team at our geographically dispersed sites and locations, ensuring alignment with leading industry practice, safety theory, and both the Corporate and business line/segment HSE strategy.
Furthermore, the role includes establishing and nurturing a framework that fosters and strengthens leader HSE capabilities, where the safe execution of work is acknowledged as a collective responsibility within the organization.
Working from our Orchard Hills site, on Darug land, your role purpose is to:
- Build and execute the business line/segment HSE Strategy, aligned with Corporate HSE strategy and considering the unique operating environment
- Identify learning opportunities and develop HSE capability programs for line and people leaders.
- Champion HSE within EOS
- Serve as the primary contact for WHS&E regulations within the business line
- Ensure compliance with statutory health, safety, and environmental obligations
- Maintain management system accreditations for business line/segment documents and processes
- Fulfil reporting obligations for stakeholder, including Thales Australia, Defence & Comcare
- Lead incident investigations and assure preventive and corrective actions are completed
- Meet HSE audit requirements, including internal and external audits
**YOUR EXPERIENCE**
- Experience within the Transport and Logistics industry
- Qualifications in OHS at AQF level 7 and/or qualifications in environmental management or similar are desirable
- Demonstrated experience in executing HSE strategy in large, high-risk, complex organizations
- Understanding of Injury Management, Workers Compensation, and familiarity with Health Promotion is also desirable
- Proficient in communication, presentation, report writing, investigation, and audit skills
- Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, including senior leaders and frontline staff
- Ability to travel to our regional locations across Australia will be required
