**Overview**

The Employee Relations Advisor will provide expert advice and support to all members of staff on workplace relations matters, working closely with and supporting a team of HR BPs. This busy role will be hands-on in effectively managing workplace grievances, including coaching managers through performance management processes, conducting workplace investigations and advising on industrial relations matters.

This role offers autonomy to build on current foundational Policies and Processes, lead interesting and complex ER cases, and to play a key role in organisational restructures, as well as providing the opportunity to develop and learn within a supportive and experienced HR team.

**Key Accountabilities and main responsibilities**

Operational Management
- First point of contact for HR queries from employees related to Link Group policies & Enterprise Agreements
- Providing general HR support on restructure and transformation projects with the HRBPs. This will include technical ER advice and preparation of documentation (e.g. scripts and letters) for consultation processes.
- Assist in the review and maintenance of HR policies and procedures to ensure best practice
- and compliance with industrial obligations
- To advise and support Managers chairing formal hearings, making sure employees have a full, fair and impartial hearing
- Lead case management of disciplinary matters, including performance management, breaches of code of conduct, and termination of employment during probation, providing coaching and support to managers and employees involved in the process. This includes drafting scripts and letters where required.
- Conduct thorough and well documented grievance investigations, following due process, interviewing complainants, respondents and witnesses, and ensuring that the outcome considers all available evidence
- Working with the HR Business Partners, Head of HR Operations and GM of HR Services in areas such as;
- Development and continuous improvement of Employment Policies, taking into account relevant employment legislation
- Develop, and take part in delivering on-going programs of training and coaching of line managers so that they have the confidence and capability to manage cases directly when necessary
- Manage basic settlement agreements in liaison with the Managers taking appropriate advice where necessary and escalating complex agreements to the HR Business Partner
- Monitor changes or development in relevant legislation, regulations and standards;
- Monitor compliance with Company policies and procedures and State and Federal legislative requirements.
- Monitor, track and report case metrics and present key themes and potential operational improvements for the business

People Leadership
- Coaching of leaders and managers on Link Group policy and how to handle employee disputes and performance issues
- Develop meaningful relationships with key stakeholders to empower leaders in the areas of performance management and feedback conversations

Governance & Risk
- Sound interpretation of multiple Employment and Collective Agreements, demonstrating a clear understanding of risk to Link Group and communicating this accordingly
- Ensuring that all Employee Relations matters are dealt with in a fair and impartial manner, taking into account full consideration of the Fair Work Act.

**Experience & Personal Attributes**
- Demonstrable generalist HR or ER experience including evidence of complex HR issues including redundancies, dismissals, change management, preferably gained within a commercial environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Excellent at building and developing relationships at all levels
- Proven ability to operate independently and take the initiative
- Ability to analyse, interpret and deliver data and information in an accurate, fair and concise manner
- Ability to influence key decision makers and to challenge when necessary
- Resilient and ability to ‘stand your own ground’
- Ability to multi-task, work well under pressure and use own initiative
- Be solutions focussed and have excellent analytical, judgement and problem solving skills to support resolution of HR issues.
- Be patient, tactful, diplomatic and approachable.
- Able to work co-operatively with others to complete tasks and implement process improvements
- Team orientated approach
- Flexible, adaptable and ability to travel when required
- Experience of employment tribunal claims/processes desirable
