A historic Australian brand with heritage going back over 100 years and renowned for quality products in the outdoor furniture and shade categories via wholesale, dealer and national retail channels is looking for a strong sales oriented leader with a track record of turning around profitability and performance. The business was acquired 10 years ago by the world's largest manufacturer and global distributor, based in China and has enormous potential coupled with a high level of investment going into a new purpose built site in North Western Sydney and an endless breadth of high quality product range to choose from for the local market. The business is also looking to expand into the commercial channel, eg hotels, restaurants, cafes.

**The Role**

Reporting to the Chinese based owner, the role will be responsible for a small team and managing the P&L with a remit to grow the business and improve profitability and EBITDA whilst retaining and growing a small team dedicated to the brand and partnering with major retailers, eg Harvey Norman and similar distributors as well as a sizeable portfolio of smaller dealers nationally. Focusing on pricing discipline, S&OP and forecasting accuracy the GM for Australia will also have the opportunity to play a decisive role in the new site build and fit-out whilst being very hands-on in the customer base to represent the brand so knowledge of that particular outdoor or similar categories, eg furniture and the relevant distribution channels will be essential to the success of the role.

**The Person**

You will have a strong sales background and experience turning around profitability in a small to medium size business in the consumer goods sector and demonstrate depth of networks and relationships with major national retailers, smaller dealers and distributors in the furniture, lifestyle and outdoor space. You'll be a leader who builds cultures and capability within small teams, hands-on and leading from the front as the face of the brand in Australia with high level skills in forecasting and S&OP, coaching and mentoring talent across sales, operations and finance and be highly outcome and growth driven. You'll also need resilience and patience working with global stakeholders, providing insights on the Australian market dynamics and the energy to be out with customers as a key part of the role. Excitement for turnarounds critical, as will be outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
