Overview

We're seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented finance professional to oversee a broad range of accounting functions in a collaborative environment. You'll play a key role in maintaining accurate finances and supporting directorates with customer focussed accounting advice.

Key Responsibilities

- Ensuring financial functions of the department are completed in accordance with the Local Government Act 2020.

- Acting as Council’s primary contact with external auditors.

- Ensuring that all accounting records are maintained and reconciled.

- Financial acquittals for Government funding.

- Overseeing daily bank reconciliations.

- Confirming financial requirements for asset accounting.

- Stock and fixed assets registers maintenance and verification.

- Fringe Benefits Tax records maintenance and compliance.

- Authorising payroll authoriation and reconciliation.

What We're Looking For

- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, or Business and either CPA or CA membership combined with substantial experience.

- Sound understanding of the Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) as they apply to Local Government.

- Substantial experience in working with sophisticated financial systems.

- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of budgeting techniques.

- Understanding of the financial provisions of the Local Government Act 2020.

- Sound knowledge of Accounting for Infrastructure Assets.
