The occupant of this position is a member of the Operational Technology and Engineering (OTE) Section. The role of the OTE Section is to ensure the development, delivery and operation of measurement equipment and systems meet the Bureau's performance and functional requirements. This includes the following sensors/networks:
- Radar and Wind Profilers
- Automatic Weather Stations
- Solar Radiation
- Ozone
- Flood Warning
- Sea Level
- Aircraft Based Observations
Operational Technology and Engineering is made up of a diverse team of specialists and engineers responsible for the development and design of engineering and technological solutions, incorporating level three support, on a range of technologies spanning from radars to rainfall stations, drifting buoys to dedicated observations and satellites to ships at sea to meet business needs.
This position focuses on the activities to support the Bureau's current and future network of Automatic Flood Warning Network (Weather) Stations, including physical and electrical interfaces (analogue and serial), software, and field/operational implementation.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Proven ability to work within a team environment.
- Demonstrated experience in prioritising and managing numerous concurrent tasks.
- Strong communication and liaison skills.
- Enthusiasm and drive.
- Experience in equipment testing, verification and operationalising and the ability to communicate these outcomes through written procedures, drawings and reports, presentations and phone support.
The job will involve considerable autonomy and inter-state travel may be required.
