**About the role**

**Key responsibilities**:

- Design, develop and implement subsurface sensing technologies for critical mineral discovery and mining.
- Conduct laboratory and field experiments to test and refine seismic and electromagnetic technologies under a range of conditions.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to integrate data and improve resource discovery success and mining efficiency.
- Develop and utilize modern inversion and machine learning techniques for subsurface reconstruction.
- Contribute to capacity building in both human resources and infrastructure.
- Contribute to teaching and supervision of students.

**What we are looking for**

**Essential Criteria**
- A doctoral qualification in Geophysics, Computing, Engineering or Physics.
- Evidence of a record of research outputs/creative works in relevant high quality refereed journals/outlets
- Proficiency in data analysis, machine learning methods and experimentation in a (e.g., laboratory or field setting).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
- Strong desire to develop and test new technologies within industrial settings (e.g., in remote locations).
- Knowledge of quantum sensing and or distributed sensing with fibre optics would be desirable.
