This is an exciting opportunity to undertake academic research through an industry focused lens and will involve training from Trailblazer Fellows in industrial entrepreneurship

**Your new role**
The School of Earth and Planetary Sciences is seeking a research fellow to work on characterisation and mineral Processing of clay-hosted REE-bearing material from the Jupiter prospect in Western Australia.

This position relates to an industry-Trailblazer collaborative research project on Venture Mineral’s Jupiter prospect. The researcher will join a multi-disciplinary team that includes researchers from Earth and Planetary Sciences, the John de Laeter Centre, and the West Australian School of Mines.

The objective of the research is to characterise weathered, unweathered, and partially processed material from Jupiter and to use the results to derive a better understanding of the deposit and optimise processing strategies.
To be considered for the role, you will require a PhD in mineral processing and rock characterisation experience.

**Essential Criteria**:

- A PhD in mineral processing or a relevant discipline.
- Knowledge of mineral characterisation techniques (EPMA, TGA, XRD, XRF and AAS knowledge will be highly regarded).
- Practical, academic, and industry experience in mineral processing and hydrometallurgy.
- Project management experience.
- Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.

**Desirable Criteria**:

- Demonstrated ability to supervise HDR students less experienced team members.
- Quality research outputs/creative works evidenced by esteem measures appropriate to the output. These may include research impacts, journal ranking, citation indices, patents awarded, reputation and standing of publishing house or other outlets, independent review from distinguished scholars or critics,
- Evidence of a record of research outputs/creative works in high quality refereed journals/outlets consistent with the discipline.
