**About the Role**:
Join Curtin University as we seek **two** dynamic **Research Fellows** to contribute to our ground breaking research funded by the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for the Digital Child.** These are part
- or full-time fixed-term positions until December 2027.**

The Research Fellows will work within projects led by Healthy Digital Child Chief Investigators at Curtin University. The Research Fellows will lead studies suited to their specific skill set. This may include studies aimed at a) enhancing measurement technologies, b) children utilising technology to promote activity, and/or c) supporting healthy screen use family practices.

**Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to)**:

- Conduct studies to enhance accuracy of measurement technologies for assessing children's daily postures, movements and activity intensity.
- Collaborate with families, end-users, and specialists to develop measurement systems that validly measure children's activity and output them in a user-friendly way.
- Gather and analyse qualitative and quantitative data from families and community stakeholders to inform practices for children's development in a digital environment.
- Develop effective dissemination pathways and interventions to impact family practices and community awareness regarding healthy technology use.
- Engage in longitudinal and laboratory research to understand technology use patterns and their physical impacts on young children
- Coordinate co-designed trials of technology for promoting physical activity, such as augmented reality.

**Selection Criteria - who we are looking for**:

- Completion (or near completion) of a Doctoral level qualification in a field of study relevant to the described projects (e.g., Public Health, Allied Health or Paediatrics).
- Demonstrated ability to conduct independent, original human research, including literature reviews and designing, implementing, delivering, analysing and reporting project outcomes.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively and constructively in a team environment, and with a range of transdisciplinary collaborators.
- High level organisational skills, including the ability to manage confidential research data, and successfully manage workload to meet budget and timeframe deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate research outcomes effectively to research colleagues, external stakeholders and partners, and the wider community, evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals, written reports, public events and activities, media engagement, seminar and/or conference presentations.
- Self-motivation and capacity to establish academic leadership and research achievements.
- Proven knowledge and skills relevant to the study roles above including some of: quantitative studies involving biomechanical/physiological measures (e.g. expired gas energy expenditure and accelerometry), qualitative studies involving focus groups/interviews, or program development/intervention studies.

**Desirable**:

- Demonstrated skills in researching and/or working with children.
- Demonstrated excellence in supervision of undergraduate and/or postgraduate student research projects.
- Willingness to develop media and social media research communication skills.
- Demonstrated excellence in participant/community communication and engagement.

**Role Requirements**:

- As this is a fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role to be considered.
