Infrastructure Designer

The team

The role
- Produce solution and infrastructure designs (both high level and very detailed) and associated functional specifications.
- Scope and design the overarching solution and infrastructure designs in conjunction with Subject Matter Experts, Project Managers, and Solution and Infrastructure Designers.
- Implement operational solutions based on the EA target reference architecture and IT's Technology principles.
- Liaise with customer facing groups to understand client and customer needs in a rapidly evolving environment.
- Make solution and infrastructure design decisions that ensure effective, secure, scalable, convergent, flexible and manageable solutions of high standards.
- Ensure the IT solution will satisfy the business needs in a cost effective, resilient, and operable fashion. Ensure that chosen infrastructure solutions are scalable in order to satisfy a future demand for the enhanced/new service(s).
- Undertake quality reviews of technical solutions developed by other Solutions & Infrastructure Designers. Ensure the chosen technology solutions are convergent in order to take advantage of internal and external needs along with a broad range of service needs.
- Determine resource and capacity requirements for the solutions
- Deal with deployment issues in a multi-tier architecture. Document deployment infrastructure.
- Produce very detailed infrastructure designs including coverage of IP addresses, firewall rules etc
- Follow mandatory and recommended practices of the reference architects when designing solutions
- Keep abreast of rapid changes in computer and network technology

About you
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology and relevant work experience.
- Solid experience in Microsoft M365 services, transition, integration, and solutions.
- Liase with external government agency on transition of solutions, infrastructure, data transfers and systems access is highly desired.
- Experience in producing solution and cloud architecture and designs related to Microsoft SharePoint solutions, Microsoft Dynamics, Cloud Security, SQL Server and Reporting Solutions, and mobility solutions.
- Experience in AWS and Azure eco systems and solution design.
- Experience architecting enterprise infrastructure solutions in conjunction with range of infrastructure technologies Oracle databases, SAN, VMWare, Windows OS, MS SQL, Linux, WebLogic, F5.
- Experience with developing reference architecture, roadmap, policies, and standard patterns.
- Sound understanding and experience of developing and working with IT Operations product catalogue and cost models.
- Ability to effectively present complex information to project and executive level audiences both verbally and in writing.
- Proven experience working as part of a project team, in a dynamic project/program environment.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision and be accountable for outcomes
- Generalist broad infrastructure architecture and design expertise.
- Experience and certification in ITIL V3 for Service Strategy, Design, Transition, Operation, Continual Service Improvements.
- Strong stakeholder management and liaison skills.
