ICT Infrastructure Design Engineer

We are seeking a skilled ICT Infrastructure Design Engineer to join our team. This key client-facing role leads projects of varying sizes from concept through to delivery, shaping innovative engineering solutions and mentoring junior team members.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Production of high-quality ICT infrastructure design packages, including written report documents, drawings, schematics, schedules, technical specifications, and procurement packs.
  • Meet quality/technical excellence and delivery time commitments consistent with project demands.
  • Development of 2D CAD design drawings and 3D Revit models working with the Revit BIM team, focusing on design coordination and clash detection with MEP services.
  • Represent the company at technical and design team meetings, customer meetings, and contractor teams.
  • Ensure specifications, drawings, and calculations meet the project design brief, industry, legal, and quality standards.
  • A holistic view in selecting and applying ICT infrastructure design concepts and solutions.
  • Coordinate ICT design with related engineering disciplines (electrical and mechanical).
  • Timely successful team output and production.
  • Participation in meetings with clients and relevant project stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Engineering with at least 2 years' experience in ICT infrastructure design engineering.
  • Experience in data cabling manufacture/contracting; IT/IP network systems integration; network technology vendor/manufacturer.
  • Technical qualifications and design experience in Structured Cabling Systems, Fibre Optic Networks, Data Cabling containment systems, IP/Ethernet Data Network (LAN/WAN), Wireless Data Network (WiFi), In-building Distributed Antenna System (DAS), Outside Plant (OSP), Telecommunication Network Infrastructure and Services.
  • Industry qualifications such as Cisco CCNA, CNet training, BICSI, Uptime Institute.
  • Appreciation of ICT implications related to MEP building services, network security engineering, and power supply and cooling systems.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Bluebeam; working knowledge of Revit desirable; Navisworks familiarity desirable.
  • Understanding of BIM levels and processes; ability to interpret design and construction stages from conception to practical completion and LoD.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office applications; ability to use IT-based calculation and spreadsheet software.
  • Good understanding of building design standards/regulations/codes and relevant IT systems certification standards.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work to deadlines; sound knowledge of Health and Safety issues and legislation.
  • Technical ownership of work packages and problem solving; good communication, presentation, and engagement skills; sound commercial awareness.
