**Overview and Objectives of the Position**:
The Program Coordinator is part of the academic leadership team within the UC College and plays a vital role in assuring the quality and consistency of academic programs, the provision of innovative and effective teaching practices, alignment with the expectations of the University of Canberra, and most importantly, successful student outcomes.

The Program Coordinator oversees the student success, retention, experience and progression, teaches students, and engages appropriately qualified and experienced staff to deliver programs. The Program Coordinator regularly reviews the course content to ensure that units are current to adequately prepare students for university studies. The Program Coordinator is accountable for ensuring programs and Units are coherent in design, effectively planned, managed, and administered, and that contemporary approaches to pedagogy are adopted in teaching, delivery and assessment.

**Key Responsibilities and Duties**:

- Convene and teach units in the Diploma of Design and/or the Diploma of Communication.
- Manage and/or undertake the development, monitoring and evaluation of teaching programs, including the preparation of Unit outlines, Learning Management System(s) sites, and learning and teaching materials for students and staff.
- Manage the development of student assessment, including the setting and production of examination papers and other assessment tasks, as well as marking, moderation and results processing.
- Develop and evaluate teaching materials to support the conduct of scheduled classes. Conduct and/or oversee teaching activities, excursions and consultations.
- Develop suitable timetable schedules and study plans for programs and sequence units to ensure optimal class sizes are achieved. Resolve operational matters, including timetable matters and adjustments.
- Monitor and improve the performance of the programs and Units in regard to teaching, learning and delivery. Analyse data and compile relevant reports each teaching period and incorporate continuous improvement initiatives. Participate in and initiate project work relevant to role.
- Advise the Academic Director on measures to maintain and improve the relevance and quality of the curriculum.
- Maintain quality assurance, academic and policy issues and ensure a high standard of record management is achieved. Advise and direct teaching staff on academic policy, process and practices.
- Undertake administrative duties associated with teaching, such as uploading results and maintenance of the Program Learning Management System site(s). Liaise with relevant administrative staff as required.
- Supervise staff, including recruitment assistance and induction of staff. Provide staff with information regarding professional development opportunities to enhance learning and teaching.
- Manage student programs, including articulation students, students on a study tour and students at risk. Liaise with Student and Academic Services staff and Academic Director on student and academic issues. Liaise with the university support service teams and provide timely pastoral care. Coordinate individual student study plans and consult and provide the necessary support to students who are experiencing difficulties.
- Contributing to the College’s projects and initiatives by participating in the process of course accreditation/reaccreditation, as well as assisting in Independent Higher Education Provider (IHEP) registration.
- Performing other duties associated with the academic and collegial activities of the College and the welfare of its students.
- Engage in professional development, scholarly activities and scholarship regularly.
- Contribute to the professional standing of UCC as a centre of excellence.
- Contribute to the alignment and adhearence to the industry standards and expectations.

**Selection Criteria and Qualifications**

**Essential**:

- A Postgraduate qualification in a discipline related to Design and/or Communication, along with relevant and extensive teaching experience.
- Highly developed knowledge and experience in higher education pathway programs and a proven track record in the development, teaching and evaluation of programs and resources.
- Demonstrated planning, organisational and administrative skills.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse and interpret data to predict trends and inform the future direction in relation to the quality of learning and teaching.
- Effective communication and report writing skills.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, including an ability to foster an innovative and collaborative work environment.
- Ability to interact effectively and work productively and cooperatively with a variety of stakeholders, including students.
