**The Role**
Reporting to the Assistant Director for Usability, the policy officer is responsible for providing policy advice and analysis to support the Usability Team’s RegTech and innovation initiatives. You will be involved in a review of the Departments RegTech roadmap, which will involve consultation with a variety of stakeholders. You will also be involved in supporting an innovation grants program and research into the impact of emerging technologies on the workplace relations framework.
**Skills and Capabilities**
We are looking for someone with an interest in innovation, emerging technologies, and/or design. You should be ready to work in a small, agile, fast-paced environment that is fun and supportive. Desired skills include:
- The ability to be flexible, highly motivated and contribute to the development and delivery of complex policy.
- An ability to think strategically, including synthesising complex information and identifying effective solutions.
- Experience undertaking desktop research, including reading and synthesising academic papers and reports.
- Ability to clearly explain complex concepts, ideas, and arguments to a range of audiences.
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to quickly develop productive working relationships with staff at all levels, particularly with peers and senior management.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with others.

**The Opportunity**
This position is available to Ongoing APS employees as a temporary transfer at level or a temporary performance (Acting) opportunity for a period of 9 months.
