Research Translation Branch is responsible for all aspects of NHMRC’s role in driving the translation of evidence into health policy and clinical practice. The Branch provides health evidence and advice, develop or approve guidelines, and manage grant schemes with a focus on translating research into policy and practice such as Clinical Trials and Cohort Studies, Development Grants, Partnership Centres, Partnership Projects and Centres of Research Excellence.

The Branch also works closely with the Department of Health to provide funding from the Medical Research Future Fund.

Job Specific Duties
- developing high-level correspondence including Ministerial Submissions for funding outcomes
- coordinating the peer reviewer allocation process and provide policy and process recommendations
- building capability within the section and branch, for example, training and mentoring project officers in grants management systems, data extraction and analysis and large-scale quality assurance processes
- providing secretariat support for NHMRC’s Committees, including writing high-quality agenda papers, minutes, briefs, ministerial submissions, correspondence, media responses, reports, and other written work as required
- establishing and maintaining productive working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders across NHMRC and externally, including the peer reviewers and committee members
- developing and managing cooperative agreements, contract and procurement activities
- planning and managing project milestones to ensure deliverables and timeframes are met within available resources
- liaising and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders in the health and medical research sector, to develop policies and procedures to support effective grant administration including managing complex enquiries
- evaluating the effectiveness of grant administration processes and policies to inform future policy and process decisions
- interpreting policy and legislation and analysing data to inform compliance management activities.
