There's nothing new about any of this;
It's the people in an organisation who achieve results and create the success that a company enjoys.

Employees at all levels contribute to these results in some form or another whether they are leading, doing or a combination of the two.

How a business chooses to lead, nurture and develop that talent is as unique as the individuals within the business its self.

Some businesses are highly transactional with their employees - viewing them as a commodity. They tend to drive performance through demand and "tough conversations". They get results but there are casualties and gaps in their culture. Quite often they have high leadership turnover, a poor employment brand and a patchy performance record to boot.

It often gets harder as time goes on to find good people who want to join this team.

These businesses will generally employ a COO to crack the whip and get results. It's quite often framed in a different way, but that's the nuts and bolts of it.

Many claim to, but remarkably few companies have truly identified and acted on the fact that the individuals who an organisation chooses to employ are in fact their greatest assets.

They hold this mantra above all else and make every business direction and leadership decision with their employees development and their successes front and centre of the process.

A COO in this business plays a different role to the first. The approaches are worlds apart.

My client is the second example. What they are searching for is something different. As a business they are extremely rare.

In this key COO exec team role - you will build your teams character as well as your own through making clear, constructive goal oriented decisions.

You will cultivate the success of your team.

You will create long term, positive outcomes that are imbedded within the fabric of the organisation.

You will build a legacy through your people, you will forge lasting and stable frameworks. You will add a value that runs far deeper than simply a good QTR or financial year.

You will understand and have a solid track record in QSR operations, however its the soft skills that my client is really looking for and where they see the value add.

To be clear - an understanding and demonstrated track record in QSR is a pre-requisite, however your background may not be 100% operational.

If this sounds like new age mumbo jumbo, then thats fine, but it means this isn't the role for you
