**The Role**

The purpose of the role and your unique contribution is to identify emerging cooperative research and grant opportunities, manage our active research projects and translate this value back into the business.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Identify, design and lead new research opportunities through the cooperative research pipeline (working with our current and developing new external partnerships)
- Identify emerging opportunities for new grant or ecosystem funding/leverage/market opening across the Firemark portfolio (research, new ventures, experiments)
- Structure and negotiate appropriate contractual arrangements (eg. research agreements, grants etc.) with external partners
- Translate and deliver research insights into Firemark and the business to ensure research outs are integrated
- Translating academic and research insights into clear, concise, and interesting business ready insights as well as thought leadership content to be delivered externally (excellent storytelling)
- Conducting desktop research and preliminary literature reviews to assess and summarise latest academic literature on a topics of interest (eg. Electric Vehicles, Working From
- Home or resilience verse sustainability)
- Supporting additional Cooperative Research initiatives

**Skills & Experience**
- Good working understanding of intellectual property (IP) and research translation
- Ability to define, deliver and project managing (preferred) research projects
- Ability to identify and action commercial opportunities
- Ability to draft and negotiate research & commercial agreements
- Credibility and experience (preferred) in the research sector
- Experience in turning technical/tech/expert knowledge into easy to understand pitch
- Awareness of emerging and changing technology/customer trends in your field
- Diverse backgrounds, aptitude and experiences welcomed
- Ability to learn new skills, adapt, and create value through experimentation
- Collaborative, team player, able to work independently & towards team goals
- Tech savvy in your field (and/or more generally are a plus)
