ACT Corrective Services is seeking Expressions of Interest from enthusiastic, motivated, and conscientious people to fill the position of Aboriginal Services Officer (ASO5), within Detainee Services.

This position is based at the Alexander Maconochie Centre (AMC) and is responsible for providing welfare support to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander detainees, completing referrals and supporting detainees in accessing appropriate programs, services and activities, within and outside the AMC.

In addition, you will support the development, implementation and facilitation of Indigenous specific programs, services and events within and outside the AMC, and support the principles of case management within the AMC by providing primary cultural support to the AMC Case Management team.

To be successful, you will possess excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills necessary to build rapport with a diverse range of clients and stakeholders.

**Eligibility/Other requirements**:

- This is a designated position in accordance with _s42, Discrimination Act 1991_ and is only open to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage is considered essential and therefore a Confirmation of Aboriginality may be requested.
- Eligible applicants will be required to undergo a criminal history check and undertake ACTCS Security Awareness training.
- Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the _Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011_ is required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to - Working with vulnerable people (WWVP) registration (a ct.gov.au)

**Note**: This is a temporary position available for up to six months. A merit pool will be established and may be used to fill identical vacancies over the next 12 months.
