Macquarie Park, Australia Metcash Full time

In this role you will be supporting the Transport Development Manager to collaboratively work with the business and transport partners to optimise the Metcash transport network. This will be across Food, Wholesale and Liquor and you will deploy sustainable and practical transport business system solutions that ensure optimal cost to serve. On top of that you will display excellent customer service, legislation compliance, data reporting and integrity and visibility of service delivery.

What you’ll do

Develop solutions for transport network optimisation including identification and modelling of scenarios, assessment of financial viability and business recommendations for opportunities.

Implement relevant national transport initiatives designed to optimise the network, improve CODB, transport safety and service

Support the embedding of transport systems including TMS, dock scheduling and vehicle telematic (for owned fleet), including system functionality, supporting processes, training, consistency of use and data accuracy

Work closely with carriers to understand carrier system capability as a part of total transport system architecture including integration of data and functionality.

Build partnerships within each state, nationally and with carries to influence best outcomes for the business

Contribute to development of the Metcash Transport Strategy.

Lead by example in creating a positive safety culture.

Act as SME and lead on transport regulatory / compliance items

Some interstate travel will be required

What you’ll bring

Transport sector experience with either 3PL or large FMCG.

Experience leading deployment of Transport Management Systems in complex, high volume DC environment

Experience and track record using defined methodology or systems to optimise transport routes and networks.

Transport sector operating experience - including operational best practice knowledge.

Well versed in end-to-end supply chain concepts, as well as a thorough operating knowledge of Distribution and Transport.
