**Portfolio Overview**

**Position Overview**
The Executive Officer provides high-level executive support in the achievement of strategic goals, working effectively across a wide range of high-level internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies and other relevant bodies. The Executive Officer is also responsible for managing the day-to-day administrative operations, working closely with personnel within the First Nations Portfolio. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer of the First Nations Portfolio, this position will work closely with the Vice President First Nations and the Portfolio’s Executive team.
**The Person**
The First Nations Portfolio is seeking an experienced Executive Officer who has:
- A sound understanding of the challenges and government policies impacting Australia’s First Nations People
- high level interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrated experience liaising effectively with key internal and external stakeholders and proven experience producing presentations and briefing documents with exceptional attention to detail
- the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement
- strong relationship building and influencing skills, as well as negotiation and conflict resolution skills and the ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality
- excellent time and workload management skills with demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise effectively, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and achieve required outcomes
