What is the role?

Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Executive Officer to Manager Finance (MFIN).

The Finance Branch is a dynamic, professional, diverse and interesting branch, underpinned by our commitment to AFP values and desire to foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture.

As an Executive Officer in the AFP, you will be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Framework. As an Executive Officer in the Finance branch you will be required to operate independently to meet the needs of MFIN and the Finance branch, but also collaborate to deliver broader outcomes for the Chief Finance Officer (CFO) Portfolio and AFP Executive.

You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.

What will you do?

Providing efficient, effective and compliant executive support to MFIN to ensure the coordination and successful function of the branch including workflow prioritisation, proactive management of electronic information systems and maintenance of relevant internal procedures and processes.
Drafting/preparing briefs, documents, communication/correspondence for the branch and clearance as requested.
Contributing to decision-making and administrative processes for the Executive/Portfolio through value-added coordination, process review and input, including:
Managing and coordinating of tasks requiring MFIN and higher clearance.
Minor issues management and resolution.
Assisting with development of corporate and strategic priorities for the Finance branch in accordance with the broader AFP strategic direction.
Assisting MFIN to identify and appropriately address compliance risks.
Coordinating internal corporate reporting including business plans, command assessment reviews and Senate Estimates briefs.
Maintaining high level knowledge of the branch including progress towards outcomes/outputs/projects to enable the provision of support where appropriate as a representative of MFIN.
Establishing and maintaining effective liaison with partners and stakeholders internally and externally.
Essential Requirements

You must be an Australian Citizen.
A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
Has contemporary knowledge and experience relevant to the role.
Desirable Requirements

The following skills and/or experience would be highly regarded:
Tertiary qualifications in relevant field.
Relevant qualification or extensive experience and knowledge in area of expertise.
