**The Role**
You will have a key role in supporting the expanding technology foresight work program focused on National Security. Under broad direction, this role would lead the program of work supporting national security on emerging and disruptive technologies.
You will provide the domain insights and develop methodologies for assessing technology impacts from a national security perspective. The primary stakeholders for this program of work are the Critical Technologies Hub (Department of Industry, Science and Resources) and the National Security S&T Centre (NSSTC) in DSTG.
In undertaking this role, you will also conduct analysis for other domains and contribute to the broader Strategic Futures S&T project. You will need a depth of knowledge in analysis of emerging technologies, have experience, awareness and knowledge of the role of such technologies in a Defence and national security context.
**About our Team**
Strategy and Joint Force (SJF) Major Science and Technology Capability (MSTC) is within the Joint and Operations Analysis Division of Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG).
The Critical Technology Foresight Science and Technology Capability (STC) was set up following the establishment of the whole of government Critical Technologies Hub (CTH). DSTG is leading the technology foresight function work program for the CTH as part of the Science Node, led by the Office of the Chief Scientist.
The Critical Tech team works closely with the existing Defence Impacts of Emerging Technologies STC. Between them, the two teams provide technology foresight support to Defence, National Security agencies and advice on potential critical technologies for whole of government.
You will be to be able to support activities such as written reports, deep dives and implications workshops to ensure that National Security interests are adequately captured. You will be leading technology foresight client-facing projects relevant to national security, have an appreciation of strategic priorities, build collaborations with others in DSTG, other national security agencies, industry and academia and negotiate appropriate work packages.
