**The Role**
Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG) are seeking an energetic leader as the new Deputy Program Leader Integrated Force. You will lead the delivery of scientific support to Force Design, Force Integration and Military Strategy for the Australian Defence Force Headquarters (ADFHQ).This role requires you to work with scientists across DSTG to manage a dynamic research program. You will maintain crucial links between DSTG and the stakeholders in ADFHQ and will help shape the future Defence Force.

You will define, guide and deliver a research program, which uses operations analysis to underpin evidence-based decision making for investments in future Defence capability. The Integrated Force Program encompasses diverse activities such as simulation, wargames, experimentation and resource modelling to better understand strengths and limitations of current or proposed military capabilities.

Additional roles include operating concept analysis, C4ISR modelling and strategic risk analysis to support force integration and military strategy. This role also helps lead the Launch Pad Program, which links the innovation community with Force Design by providing opportunities to demonstrate new technologies in future warfighting environments.

More broadly, you will be responsible for day to day management of program administration including budgets, reporting and oversight of various contracts. This role is part of what is currently a small team operating within a matrix operating model (Program Leader Integrated Force, Deputy Program Leader Integrated Force and four staff across Integrated Force and Launch Pad).

**About our Team**
Land and Joint Warfare (LJW) Division delivers the innovation, science and technology programs in support of the Land and Joint domains. The Division is responsible for:

- S&T Coordination
- Integrated Forces
- Electronic Warfare
- Land Combat Vehicle Innovation
- Enabled soldier
- Long Range Precision Fire

The Division also supports the following STaR Shots:

- Operating in CBRN Environments
- Disruptive Weapons Effects

This position sits within a small team located in LJW that coordinates the work of a much larger group of scientists across DSTG. You will be working to Program Leader Integrated Force who is looking for a cornerstone member to join the team and champion this critical set of work. You will be based in Canberra at DSTG Fairbairn, with one or two days a week at Russell Offices and occasional travel to other DSTG sites.

The Integrated Force (IF) Program delivers science and technology to support long-term planning for the Australian Defence Force (ADF). IF works closely with the Force Design and Force Integration Divisions of the Vice Chief of Defence Force Executive, as well as the future force development functions in each of the service headquarters.

Through the IF Program, DSTG provides operations analysis to underpin evidence-based decision making for investments in future Defence capability. DSTG draws on strong relationships with industry partners and academia in meeting Defence needs for operations analysis. IF also links Force Design and Integration with the Defence science and innovation community, including emerging technology scanning and DSTG’s Star Shots.

The Launch Pad program strives to demonstrate new technologies in future war fighting environments through a campaign of analysis to both inform future investment through the force design process and to explore the utility of ideas in a warfighting context. Launch Pad comprises wargaming, experimentation, modelling and simulation, and prototype demonstrations on exercises and trials.

Your communication skills should be suited to interacting with a diverse stakeholder group including:

- Wider Government and APS
