**The role**:
Amazing opportunity for a **Preservation Team Leader **to join our Above Water Systems (AWS) team based in Garden Island. You will work with Supervisor/Manager to ensure the successful achievement of painting and blasting requirements. You will Support the implementation of Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality initiatives in accordance with the company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities will include:

- Assist in supervising small team of blasters & painters.
- Assist Dockmaster to undertake docking and undocking of large to small vessels.
- Assist dockmaster in set-up Docking cradle for vessels both large and small.
- Ensure all product is prepared and coated with the correct coating and type of paint.
- Maintain appropriate paint stock inventory in line with business and statutory requirements.
- Clean, sand, sandblast, scrape, brush, etch and prepare surfaces in preparation for spraying.
- Masking as applicable of nearby surfaces and equipment needing protection from spray and removing on completion of job.
- Dis-assembly and re-assembly of components as required to carry out the painting and blasting functions
- Repair surfaces to be sprayed/painted
- Follow test procedures as required to confirm compliance of work with relevant procedures and standards.
- Participate in related offsite work or projects (may involve local or interstate travel)
- Attend regular departmental meetings with Supervisor to build in continuous feedback mechanisms.
- Take reasonable care to ensure own safety and health and that of others, and to abide by duty of care provided for in the WHS legislation
- Time keeping booking of personnel
- Assist in writing JSEA's & SWMS

**How about you?
- Extensive experience within ship building industry preferred or ship repair industry
- Ability to verbally communicate technical instructions and provide feedback to various stakeholders including non-technical persons
- Familiar with marine practices, ship layout and technical interpretation
- The ability to work to AS 1627 standards and ISO standards
- Experience in airless spray machines and pressure pot
- Experience in hydro blasting
- Certificate 3 Surface Preparation & Coating Application preferred
- EWP ticket
- Forklift ticket
- Confined Space ticket
- Working at heights ticket

**Good to know:
International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) are applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
