**Accountabilities include**:

- Provide expertise, support and advice to departmental officers in relation to business and financial planning, budgeting, reporting and forecasting. This includes providing expert advice in the use of associated budgeting tools and assisting in the development of business planning guidelines and procedures.
- Perform a key role by establishing and maintaining good working relationships for a customer base consisting of several stakeholder groups.
- Prepare timely and accurate analytical financial performance reports to assist Senior Management in their decision making.
- Undertake and assist in the day to day operational activities in relation to financial matters including the processing of accounts payable/receivable, general ledger processing, accrual accounting, procurement and asset management.
- The ability to operate within an environment that has competing demands. The ability to manage time, prioritise tasks and meet competing deadlines is required during periods of intense activities.
- Provide advice and assistance to branch units on procurement processes to ensure compliance with departmental and Whole-of-Government policies and procedures.
- Perform other tasks as directed by the Principal Finance Advisor or Senior Finance Advisor.
- Provide assurance to management that internal controls are operating efficiently, economically, effectively through completion of the control self-assessment.
- Foster a challenging, equitable, ethical and safe work environment which encourages commitment, skills development, professional growth and continuous improvement for staff.
- Undertake the role in accordance with the requirements of s26(1) of the Public Service Act 2008 and at all times ensure that the principles as found in the Code of Conduct for the Queensland Public Service are upheld in the carrying out of all duties.

This position reports to the Senior Finance Advisor and has no direct reports.
