We are seeking an individual who is passionate about shaping the future of transport in Western Australia. You will thrive on developing fact-based policies and advocating for more connected, vibrant, and liveable communities.

As the Manager Transport Planning and Policy, you will play a key role in RAC’s Public Policy team, leading projects and research that influence transport planning and policy across WA. Your work will directly contribute to RAC’s 2030 Vision for a safer, sustainable, and connected future for Western Australians.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage credible, technically sound, fact-based projects that support RAC’s objectives relating to transport affordability, community connectedness and promoting alternatives to driving.
- Prepare position papers, reports, submissions, and presentations for publication and media release.
- Identify and advocate for strategic transport infrastructure priorities that benefit RAC members and the broader community.
- Manage operational programs, including the Member Priorities Tracker survey.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with government, industry, and community stakeholders.
- Represent RAC on external committees and working groups, delivering presentations as required.
- Provide expert responses to transport-related queries from members and external organisations.
- Support the development of accurate media releases and content pieces that promote RAC’s 2030 Vision.

About You

We’re looking for a strategic thinker with a passion for transport planning and policy. You’ll have:

- A tertiary qualification in urban and regional planning, transport planning, public policy, social research or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience in research, policy development, and advocacy.
- A strong understanding of transport planning, urban planning, and public policy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling reports and presentations that are tailored to the audience.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects (including overseeing external consultants) and deliver results.
- Great attention to detail.
- A collaborative approach to working, and experience leading other people.
- Strong relationship-building skills, with experience engaging government and industry stakeholders.
- A high level of professionalism and integrity.
- Availability to attend functions and events, as well as occasional regional or interstate travel.
