Your Opportunity
**As the Financial Analyst, you will**:
- Coordinate the forecasting and monitoring of the Region's revenue and expenditure.
- Provide accurate and timely financial management reports and data necessary for planning, delivery and monitoring of the Region's range of customer oriented products and services.
This position reports to the Financial Controller.
This is a Permanent, Full-Time opportunity.
The position will be based primarily at Ashmore, however you may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake complex research and analysis using appropriate accounting, human resource and information management systems (i.e. Microsoft Excel, Technology One Finance and SMS) to understand drivers of financial performance and identify long term impacts on fiscal positioning.
- Provide advice and guidance to work units on all matters of financial management including but not limited to the development of internal budgets and forecasts, financial implications of business decisions, management of casual employee expenditure, and analysis of teacher loads through the timetabling system.
- Monitor the financial performance of the Region's business units to identify issues that impact their financial performance and assist business unite to develop strategies to address issues and improve financial performance.
- Provide proactive analysis of cost drivers to better understand course profitability, driving inefficiencies out of the business and better inform management decision making.
- Establish and maintain effective and efficient financial management reporting systems that achieve Regional and work unit budget objectives, key performance indicators and business strategies.
- Build and maintain collaborative working relationships with work units to facilitate the understanding of financial and output performance and to ensure the capture of relevant information to maintain the accuracy of the financial ledger.
- Provide monthly, mid-year and on-request management reports and analysis to all levels of Regional Management on their business performance and position.
- Assist in the completion of period end reporting processes and ensure timely completion of monthly general ledger reconciliations.
- Interpret legislation, accounting standards, directives and Queensland Public Sector financial management policies, principles and practices and other relevant material impacting on Regional functions to provide accurate and timely advice on these as required.
- Contribute to the development of strategies and associated information and training materials to improve financial management knowledge and expertise of Regional staff.
- Maintain an understanding of the commercial aspects of TAFE including financial business performance and any impact from external factors.
- Actively engage with industry, business and the community.
- Model and actively promote an ethical and safe work environment that supports a culture of zero harm and best practice regarding health, safety, wellness and sustainability.

- Demonstrated capacity to undertake research and analysis of financial performance or business practices and identify potential improvements or solutions that support long term financial sustainability.
- Experience in or exposure to a diverse range of finance practices including proactive financial control strategies, cost driver analysis, forecasting and resource allocating with a demonstrated ability to contribute to the implementation of financial sustainability programs or major financial improvement/change programs.
- Displays flexibility and responsiveness and has the initiative, attitude and ability to thrive within a dynamic, challenging and changing environment.
- Demonstrated experience in the interpretation and use of data from large decentralised accounting and reporting systems or databases to produce quality work with a high degree of accuracy.
