**The opportunity**

We are looking for two motivated individuals to lead and deliver a new initiative under the NSW Government's Waste and Sustainable Materials Strategy 2041. The Strategy sets the NSW Government’s objectives to reduce waste, increase recycling and transition the state to a circular economy.In this role, you will lead the design and implementation of an initiative to support local councils to deliver waste and resource recovery services that contribute to circular economy objectives.
You will build relationships and lead, facilitate and influence discussions with local councils. You will effectively elicit, understand and design services to meet local council needs, while also driving towards the NSW Government’s strategic circular economy objectives.
You will seek to understand and critically analyse complex challenges in waste and recycling markets and work closely with stakeholders to develop practical solutions. You will be instrumental in building an evidence base to ensure policy is responsive to changing waste and resource recovery priorities.

**The team**

This role is in the NSW EPA’s Major Projects and Initiatives Branch, within its Regulatory Policy, Initiatives and Advice Division. We lead the design and delivery of innovative, high-priority and highly visible policies and initiatives that place the wellbeing of NSW people and environments at their centre.
You will be joining a multi-skilled, high-performing and passionate team with a proven track record in delivering on the strategic priorities of the EPA and the NSW Government.

**About you**

You are an effective communicator who speaks and writes with clarity, authority and influence. You can effectively adapt your message and style to different audiences.
You bring strong experience both in developing and fostering productive relationships, and comfortably leading, facilitating and influencing discussions to deliver results.
You have an analytical mindset and are a strategic and critical thinker who considers the broader context to develop practical solutions.
You have a proven record of leading and managing people and projects to deliver on milestones and objectives, and in a dynamic work environment with changing priorities.
We are looking for two motivated leaders - with a complementary mix of skills and experience - who can work together to manage the project and achieve quality outcomes.

**You may have experience in**:

- waste and resource recovery sectors and an excellent understanding of the critical role of local councils and/or
- designing innovative delivery or stakeholder engagement approaches and/or
- significant experience in policy design, implementation and evaluation.
