Our client, the Department of Primary Industries and Regions (PIRSA) is a key economic development agency in the Government of South Australia, with responsibility for the prosperity of the state's primary industries and regions. South Australia’s primary industries and agribusiness generated revenue of $15.4 billion in 2020-21 with total direct employment in primary industries and associated processing at 74,000 (full-time equivalent). In the same period, these industries accounted for 47% of the State’s merchandise exports.
We are seeking a Work Health and Safety Consultant who can provide a range of WHS consultancy services, programs and tools to support PIRSA’s Division, management and staff to meet WHS legislative obligations, manage WHS risks and continuously improve the organisation’s WHS performance. The role contributes to the development, implementation and continuous improvement and associated procedures, programs and tools to ensure an effective and uniform WHS management system is developed and maintained commensurate with PIRSA’s WHS risks.
Reporting to the Manager, Work Health and Safety, and meeting regularly with executive and managers across PIRSA, you will be accountable for the provision of comprehensive WHS consultancy services, expert advice and support to meet WHS legislative responsibilities and manage WHS risks across the organisation.
You will have an in depth knowledge and understanding of contemporary WHS theory, principles and practices, WHS Act and Regulations and, where required, the AS/NXS ISO 3100:2009 Risk Management Standard and AS/NXS 4801:2001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems, and of broader business related issues.
Experience in WHS incident identification, investigation and mitigation processes, the management of internal audits and associated plans, and the preparation, evaluation and continual improvement of schedules and reports is essential to facilitate PIRSA’s ongoing compliance and effectiveness.
Proven experience in collaborating, and forming and maintaining effective working relationships, with a range of internal and external stakeholders and customers in order to promote PIRSA’s WHS programs and strategies and to support new innovation and improvements will be highly regarded.
