Working within Qantas Group Safety Services (‘QGSS’), the Claims Officer is part of a centralised national support service that is responsible for low level claims management and administrative compliance support for both the business managers and the workers compensation team. In addition, you will be making initial contacts for new claims, payment of medical accounts & weekly benefits, preparation of files in accordance with sensitive privacy provisions, managing correspondence and other functions as detailed relevant to ensure compliant claims management.

Key Responsibilities:

- Completing key compliance activities such as initial contacts, liability assessment, calculation of PIAWE, assessing liability for treatment and development of injury management plans.
- Utilise your knowledge and skills in monitoring workers return to work requirements and conducting work capacity assessments and decisions
- Timely and accurate processing of workers compensation claims in accordance with departmental procedures, legislative requirements and timeframes.
- Access and maintain claim cost estimates to ensure accurate financial performance and actuarial reporting.
- Develop, implement and monitor individualised claims management strategies to reduce the financial and human impact of these claims.
- Collaborate and communicate with line management and other key internal & external customers and stakeholders to ensure quality claims management outcomes.
- Authorisation and reconciliation of worker's compensation benefits in accordance with company policy and state and territory Workers' compensation legislation.

To be successful you will possess:

- Higher School certificate or equivalent
- Claims Management experience essential
- Workers Compensation Self-Insurance experience preferable
- Working knowledge of NSW legislative workers compensation framework & timeframes
- Ability to manage complex workers compensation issues/procedures
- Strong skills in management of barriers and strategies associated with injury and claims management.
- Well-developed computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- Working knowledge of Self Insurance Management System preferable
- Strong and effective interpersonal skills with the ability to build constructive and effective working relationships
- Evidence of high-level attention to accuracy and detail
- Must maintain confidentiality of information
