**About the Role**
This is an exceptional opportunity to join our Global Operations team as Plant Manager of our Brisbane operations. This role provides daily management and coordination of all plant operations including production, logistics and maintenance whilst also ensuring compliance with all labour, safety, environmental and corporate policies, and regulations.
As a strategic role, this position plays an integral part of the plant operations, and special projects and has a profit and loss responsibility for developing and achieving budgetary and production targets.
This role also provides leadership on culture to drive progress on safety, food safety and environmental programmes, as well as ensuring an engaged workforce aligned to the key results and purpose of Tate & Lyle.
**Key Responsibilities**
This is a great opportunity to take a significant leadership role, within a small plant with the full range of responsibilities for people management, strategy, and operations.
- You will Provide strong leadership in all T&L EHS policies and procedures in line with the expectations of the plant manager role
- Promote and enforce safe behaviours and respond to any gaps in performance.
- Ensure all Environment, Health and Safety Regulatory requirements are met and adhered to
- Liaise with Engineering Manager to prioritize maintenance operations and CAPEX / Capital Investment program.
- Take accountability for resources including the recruitment and talent acquisition, coaching, and mentoring of staff to ensure performance targets are being met.
- Assume profit & loss responsibility for the site's annual operating plan and formulate activities for cost reductions and cost centre performance.
- Signatory on required outputs for transfer and export of prescribed goods as described under the Export Control Act.
- Ensure site compliance to all labour, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Assume site responsibility for the Environmental Aspects register and legal compliance.
- Prepare management reports as required.
- Ensure OTIF (On time in full) targets are met or exceeded for the region.
- Work together with global procurement to identify opportunities to improve procurement activity.
- Negotiate and manage import and export freight contracts and local warehousing contracts.
- Establish a system to benchmark the competitiveness of suppliers and monitor them on an ongoing basis.
- Maintain inventory levels in accordance with critical control targets
- Manage slow-moving, obsolete and blocked stocks
- Monitoring of costs associated with warehouse and distribution and verification of invoices
- Ensure effective partnering with internal interfaces such as Sales Managers, Production, Finance and Quality.
- Lead employee engagement culture activities including the embedding of the Tate & Lyle behaviours.
**About You**
This would represent an ideal opportunity for those seeking to make the step from production management to broader operational management - as well as those seeking a shift into general management.
- You will ideally be degree qualified or have the appropriate experience across manufacturing/production - having had previous senior level experience working within a food environment or FMCG environment.
- You will have strong theoretical and technical knowledge combined with analytical thinking and practical experience in resolving process issues.
- Your skills will be broad in operations and engineering as well as a sound understanding of planning, organising and people development
- Communicate will be a strength of yours and you will have an ability to use different mediums at all levels of the organisation - to inspire action and engagement through the team
- You be familiar with working in a matrix organisation, connecting with different stakeholders across our global business, and influence without authority in a variety of different settings
- You will have a solid grounding in legislating requirements including manufacturing, safety, environmental, food safety, labour laws and engineering
- Working with people will be a strength of yours on both an individual and group level - with the ability to coach, engage, performance manage and negotiate where required.
