City of Hawkesbury, Australia LEAP Social Services Full time

**About the business**

LEAP SS supports children and young people in need, with the aim to empower independence, ambition, and positive relationships. LEAP support workers provide strengths-focussed support, which can include mentoring, transport, supervised contact visits, in home support and overnight crisis support.

**About the role**

LEAP SS provides a rewarding experience to mentor and support children and young people. LEAP prides itself on putting a focus on relationships so when workers come on board, we want to get to know your interests and skills so that we can match up your personality with appropriate children/young people that you will enjoy supporting. We believe it’s not as simple as assigning a young person to a worker, but instead finding a match between a young person and mentor who will enjoy spending time together.

Working with LEAP SS will allow you to help young people achieve goals, work toward independent living and engage pro-socially within their community. As a support worker you will engage with children and young people through the following support services:

- _Mentoring_: providing positive, consistent, ‘gender specific’ role models for young people who do not have supportive relationships with adults within their own families, schools and peer networks.
- _Supervised Contact Visits_: supervising visitation between children/young people and their relatives.
- _Transport Services:_ transporting children/young people to complete daily activities, attend appointments, go to and from school/work and participate in community activities.
- _In Home Support:_ Supporting young people/families in their homes to create unity and work towards a stable placement.
- _Overnight Support: _assisting children/young people and their families to develop and maintain routines in a home-setting.

**Benefits and perks**

Becoming a support worker is an extremely enriching and rewarding experience for individuals who are empathetic toward young people in need and want to give back to their community. In addition to a rewarding sense of emotional wellbeing, the following perks are involved while working with LEAP SS:

- Flexible working conditions.
- An on-call management team for you to contact whenever you need support.
