Associate Design Director

WE ARE LOOKING FOR THE NEW BREED OF DESIGN LEADER
We are looking for an Associate Design Director on a 12-month fixed contract that loves creativity, and the opportunities new technologies and thinking provides. You have what it takes to mentor and manage talented designers. You are always striving to get the best out of your people by helping them progress in their own careers as they progress the creative standards at CHEP. You have a portfolio of work that demonstrates excellence in both design thinking and design execution. You think about both the big picture and drill down to the finer details. You know the difference between good and great design.
You'll be working on some of Australia's most loved brands at the AFR's number one ranked 'Most Innovative Media & Marketing Company' in 2020.

HOW WILL WE KNOW YOU ARE THE ONE
To be considered for this role, you must have a tertiary qualification in graphic design and a minimum of 10+ years of experience in a design role within a brand, design or advertising agency. You have a folio that showcases your skills with examples of your design work that pushes boundaries.

**Responsibilities**:

- You'll be responsible for maintaining world-class creative design skills and standards across the department. You'll be able to work across a large range of clients and workloads, multi-tasking with a high level of creativity in your work.
- You'll also work collaboratively with others in the business - Creative Directors, art director, copywriters, strategists, data, UX, tech - to bring new thinking and design solutions to the table.
- You'll lead projects, workshops and design critiques. You'll also take a leading role in client presentations.

Capabilities
- 10+ years design experience across a mix of design disciplines.
- The ability to manage, mentor and inspire a team of designers within a high-performance, creative culture.
- A strong portfolio of work that demonstrates excellence in both design thinking and design practice.
- A passion for design, with experience across a range of disciples from brand identity to campaign to digital design.
- A positive, friendly can-do attitude, you are calm under pressure.
- An eagerness to be a team player. You'll be mentoring designers to ensure they develop as design practitioners and are engaged in their roles.
- Expert knowledge of Adobe's Creative Suite and Figma.
- Motion skills would be a definite bonus, so too would illustration.
- A curiosity for learning skills beyond design (user experience/strategy/leadership/business).
- An ability to work closely with account service and operations managers to ensure deadlines are met and communicated effectively.
- Solid communication skills. You're able to clearly articulate the department's design rationales and decisions. You'll take a leading role in client and team presentations.
- An ability to think intuitively and work well within a diverse team.
- A resilient attitude, always ready to pitch in and roll with the punches.
