As our business grows, so does our team and we’re looking for someone with the expertise to nurture our talent and maintain our exceptional team culture across our Brisbane, Jondaryan and Glen Innes locations. We’re seeking an experienced, motivated and dynamic manager to join the team, either based at our Brisbane office or at our multi-award winning feedlot at Jondaryan. As part of the Corporate Services Team and working closely with the executive leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in executing our People, Culture and Safety strategy and the delivery of strategic and innovative people programs. This role will embed our values, drive our core purpose and find new and creative ways to engage and support our talented and high-performing teams. There will be a strong focus on how we recruit brilliant people, set them up for success and ensure they thrive personally and professionally while they work at Stockyard. This is a vital role will continue to foster the strong culture Stockyard is known for.
- Review, develop and execute Stockyard’s People, Culture and Safety strategy and HR policies and procedures in alignment with our overall purpose and long-term goals.
- Advise and engage the executive leadership team on all matters in relation to people, culture and safety.
- Optimise employee experience through innovative strategies and work with Stockyard’s Marketing and Communications team to drive employment brand awareness and talent attraction.
- Leverage best practice to create innovative team and leadership development programs to uplift capability, performance and engagement including surveys, career pathways, job frameworks and learning programs that meet the needs of our team.
- Manage our induction and onboarding procedures.
- Maintain our culture of safety awareness and oversee a rigorous safety control program.
- Supporting Group Leaders as a trusted advisor, providing coaching and advice on employee-related matters.
- Leverage data, insights and metrics to measure the performance and impact of people and culture strategies and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
- Scope, develop and lead implementation of Stockyard’s Diversity & Inclusion programs as part of our ESG Strategy
- Build on our existing Employee Assistance Program with leading mental health and wellbeing initiatives.
- Maintain effective operations to support the employee lifecycle including maintaining employment records, maintaining our HR policies and procedures, completing internal and external reporting and budgeting.
- Ensure all policies and procedures are aligned and comply with Australia’s Employment Laws.

Of course, you’ll need exceptional people skills as you’ll be developing relationships across the organisation and with our leadership team. You’ll also be able to confidently coach and support our line managers in handling the day-to-day human resource issues. We’re on the hunt for a change-maker. So, you should be keen to make a positive mark on our business and implement some new programs for us. You should be a self-starter and have good project management and execution skills, as you’ll be designing several of these initiatives from the ground up. You should have applied knowledge of HR functions, and Australian employment laws. You should have demonstrated experience in similar roles, and preferably, in a multi-faceted family business, also.
